Have you found your new go-to place for ice cream near your Mizzou apartments? If not, we’re here to help. Columbia gets hot in the summer and stays hot through the early part of fall semester, which means you’re going to have to find a way to beat the heat. If you ask us, the best way to do that is by investing in some cold treats. Not all ice cream shops are created equal, however, which is why we’ve decided to review some of the most popular shops in town.

It might be unbelievably hot in the middle of Missouri, but the town of Columbia has compensated for that by providing residents with a plethora of amazing ice cream shops. We’ll be talking about a few of our favorites in the blog below! Without further delay, let’s dive right into the list. Oh, and when you’re done reading through it, please be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your favorite community of affordable apartments near Mizzou.

Buck’s Ice Cream Place

The first spot on our list is a tried and true Mizzou tradition. It’s located in Mizzou campus building, and the ice cream is made by Mizzou food science students! Buck’s is open from noon to five on Monday through Friday, and they stay open on Saturdays during the summer months. Check this place out next time you’re at Eckles Hall! Oh, and remember that Buck’s is old school in that they don’t accept credit cards. If you want to indulge in Buck’s ice cream bring your cash or use your student charge!

Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream

Here’s the coolest thing about Sparky’s homemade ice cream; they have 24 flavors and you can mix any of them together. Sparky’s is cheap, it’s got an eclectic interior, and they’ve got unique treats like Red Bull shakes. If you know someone who’s somewhat addicted to energy drinks, take them to Sparky’s. It’s a little small inside, but it’ll be easy to forget about the lack of space once you’re experiencing a mouthful of your delicious ice cream concoction.

Andy’s Frozen Custard

We love the frozen concrete mixers at Andy’s, especially the brownies and salted pretzel flavors. Yes, Andy’s is a chain, but it’s a chain that’s local to the state of missouri. It’s okay to love a chain ice cream shop when it’s consistently ranked as one of the best ice cream shops in the city. Andy’s is famous for their big portions, quick service, and of course, their delicious ice cream. They add extra toppings to their concrete mixers like cookie dough chunks, so be sure to take advantage of the extra flavor.
