Welcome to the first ever blog post from University Place apartments near Mizzou. Twice per month, we’ll be posting a  brand new blog about Columbia’s best dinner destinations, coffee shops, lunch spots and brunch spots. We’ll also be doling out advice about student living, decorating your first apartment, and much more. Whether you check this page every month or you only pop in every once in awhile, we think you’ll learn a little something with each new post.

For our first post, we’ve decided to share a list of the best coffee shops in Columbia. This town has a surprisingly strong coffee scene, and coffee lovers have plenty of options when it comes to getting caffeinated.

Without further delay, let’s dive right into the list of Columbia’s top-rated coffee shops! When you’re done reading the post, please be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your community of Mizzou apartments!

Fretboard Coffee

You’ll see it as soon as you walk into Fretboard Coffee; the cold brew tower that looks like it was stolen from a mad scientist’s laboratory. That’s where your ice cold coffee is coming from, and the coffee itself is as good as the presentation. Fretboard is housed inside an old renovated garage, and they serve plenty of baked goods from the bakery in the building next door. Whether you get coffee, food, or both, we think you’ll be impress by the ambiance inside one of Colombia’s coolest coffee shops.

Shortwave Coffee

It doesn’t get much more hipster than a basement coffee shop that you can only find by walking down an alley. Despite it’s tucked-away location, Shortwave Coffee is actually quite spacious inside, making it a great place to escape and study for a few hours. We love coming here on hot days, because the coffee shop is cool and the cold brew is, well, cold.

Besides the temperature, Shortwave is convenient for studying because of it’s assortment of seating spaces. They’ve got tables and chairs for individuals or study partners, and private rooms for study groups looking for a place to meet. Check this place out next time you need a chilly study spot!

Kaldi’s Coffee

If you’re looking for strong coffee and plenty of power outlets, look no further than Kaldi’s Coffee in downtown Columbia. This place is super popular, but they’ve got plenty of seating indoors and a couple tables on the sidewalk for when the weather allows for outdoor seating. If you decide to go, be sure to order one of the lattes. They come with art on top, and you’ll have a hard time resisting the urge to snap a pic. Give Kaldi’s a shot next time you need a pick-me-up!

Those are all the coffee shops we’ve got for you this week, residents! We’d like to take this time to thank those of you that took some time out of your busy schedule to read the first ever blog post from University Place. We hope that this blog helps you discover your new favorite coffee shop, and that you’re able to stay caffeinated all summer long!
