Still trying to figure out how to organize your Mizzou apartments? Every floor plan is different, but we’ve got some tips that can help you make the most of your space. Whether you just moved in or you’ve been here for month, it’s always a good time to rearrange your furniture. Not only can it give you more room in your home, but it’ll make your space feel refreshed and revitalized.

Now that we’ve convinced you to rearrange your space, we’ll tell you how to do it! Oh, and when you’re done reading through this week’s post, please be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments near Mizzou.

Don’t push everything against the wall

Everyone just assumes that couches and entertainment centers should be pushed against the wall, but that’s actually not the best way to make your apartment seem more spacious. If you want your space to seem comfortable, you’d got to leave room to add pieces that provide depth. Even something as simple as moving your couch a few inches i from the wall gives you the chance to put a thin table back there or a shelf. Those little things make all the difference when you’re planning your new space.

Use rugs whenever possible

As we mentioned before, the ideal apartment layout is one that adds depth and layers to your space. Contrary to popular belief, the minimalist look won’t make your space seem any more comfortable or inviting. We recommend buying a few rugs that you like and using them to separate your apartment into different sections. Adding a rug to a corner transforms that space. It’s not longer just a part of your living room; it’s your reading corner. Rugs can be used to separate the spaces in your apartment and add layers of texture where there otherwise wouldn’t be any.

Invest in corner pieces

You’re going to put pieces in the corner of your room, so you might as well invest in pieces that were designed to be put in the corner. Not only do corner pieces save a little bit of floor space, but they also make your apartment seem more put together and well thought out. The ideal corner pieces are triangle-shaped corner shelves, but there are a few corner-shaped chairs to be found out there if you’re willing to spend some time searching.

Light it up with lamps

Soft light is every apartment’s best friend. The more lamps you have, the more you’ll be able to play light and shadows in your room to create the ideal look. Be sure to get a variety of lamps so you can light up every dark corner. We’re talking about tall floor lamps, little lamps for your end tables, and maybe even one of those lamps that hangs over a chair to provide reading light. When it comes to apartment living, you can never have too many lamps.

With that, we’ve reached the end of our list of apartment decor recommendations. We’d like to thank you for taking some time out of your day to read the second ever blog post from University Place, and we hope that you’re able to figure out a floor plan layout that works for you!
